The Portland Timbers are proud to present Green Is Gold, a platform to highlight the club’s nature conservation and sustainability initiatives in the community and at Providence Park.

Through season-long programming and activations with Stand Together, Skanska, and other community partners, Green is Gold aims to raise awareness and educate on the topics of sustainability, nature conservation and waste reduction in our community and across our state, as well as actively work to improve our environmental footprint at Providence Park.

In 2026, Skanska joins the club as the presenting partner of its reusable cups program and Green is Gold initiatives. Skanska’s longtime leadership in sustainable construction provides the expertise to help others deliver on their environmental goals. By leveraging national and international experience, Skanska can efficiently use natural resources and be a better neighbor in our communities. Sustainable building is good business and critical to protecting our planet and the health and wellbeing of our communities.

Matchday tickets to all Timbers matches also serve as tickets to ride to the stadium. Fans can show their matchday ticket as proof of fare to ride TriMet buses and MAX trains to and from Providence Park starting three hours before a match through three hours after it ends. TriMet’s MAX Blue and Red lines, as well as four bus lines, stop in convenient locations near the stadium. Users can plan their trip to Providence Park at trimet.org with an interactive map displaying all available lines and routes.

We have teamed up with Bold Reuse and Skanska on a reusable cup and vessel program as we pursue a more sustainable matchday and event experience at Providence Park. Available in the Bank of America Signature Club on Tanner Ridge, adiClub, Lexus Lounge, First Tech Suites and the Pitchside Seats presented by Pacific Office Automation.

Introduced in 2024, the program of reusables helps us achieve our reduced waste and climate goals, and beats single-use alternatives through nearly every environmental measure.

Providence Park has full LEED Gold status through many stadium initiatives:

  • In partnership with City of Roses (COR) Disposal & Recycling, Providence Park has diverted and recovered 44% of waste from landfill in 2024.
  • Newly installed LED sports lighting system replaced incandescent lightbulbs in suites, offices and on the concourse level, reducing energy use by 60%.
  • Occupancy sensors throughout the stadium reduce energy consumption.
  • The club partners with TriMet to provide free public transportation to and from games with match tickets doubling as bus and train tickets.
  • 65% of attendees commute to Providence Park using public transportation, including bikes, scooters, the bus or MAX line.
  • Bold Reuse, a reusable drinkware program, and has diverted over 1,500 pounds of waste this season.

Bike to the park! Bike Parking, presented by AAA, is available free at Providence Park on matchdays and is located on SW Morrison Street close to the intersection with SW 18th Avenue. The bike parking is guarded throughout the match by stadium personnel.
