PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers today announced that midfielder Michael Nanchoff has undergone a successful sports hernia repair. The procedure was performed Monday by Dr. William Hutchinson at the Surgery Center of the Pacific in Santa Monica, Calif.
Nanchoff will begin rehabilitation immediately with Timbers sports medicine staff at Providence Park and at the Providence Sports Care Center. The expected recovery time is 4-6 weeks.
Nanchoff, 26, appeared as a second-half substitute in Portland’s season-opening match against Real Salt Lake on March 7. The North Royalton, Ohio, native has made 11 appearances (8 starts) in all competitions since joining the Timbers in 2013. Nanchoff tallied a goal and two assists during 2014-15 CONCACAF Champions League play for Portland and has made 19 career MLS appearances since 2011 with Vancouver and Portland.
