PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC today announced the selection of forward Danesha Adams off waivers.
"Danesha has the potential to be a very good player in NWSL but she needs to be in an environment which is competitive, challenging and supportive. I think we can offer those important elements,” said Portland Thorns FC head coach Paul Riley. “She has the ability to play various positions and has a great brain for the game. My job is to get her super fit and hungry again. If we achieve those goals Danesha will be a huge pick up for our club. She has played for me before in WPS for Philadelphia Independence and was an integral part of our run to the finals."
Adams, 28, appeared in 13 matches (9 starts) for the Washington Spirit during the 2014 regular season, recording one goal and one assist. In 2013, Adams started 20 matches for Sky Blue FC, scoring three goals and adding three assists.
A standout at UCLA, Adams played under Thorns FC head coach Paul Riley with the Philadelphia Independence in Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) in 2010 and with the Chicago Red Stars during the 2009 season.
