Several Timbers Academy players from the U-15 and U-16 teams have been invited to a U.S. Talent ID Center on Oct. 30. It's an opportunity to train in a national team environment.
Ten Portland Timbers Academy players, representing the U-15 and U-16 teams, have received an invitation from U.S. Soccer to take part in a U.S. Talent ID Center event on October 30.
Taking place in Renton, Wash., the event is a free, single-day player identification opportunity for top talents to train and play under the direction of U.S. Soccer Talent Identification Managers. U.S. Soccer uses the Talent ID Centers to identify and evaluate top talents for Youth National Teams.
The Academy players invited include U-15s Daniel Gomez, Owen Hanson, Brendon Leon, Alejandro Martinez, Mario Occhialino, Evander Sanchez, Grayson Utush, Samuel Vasquez Zamorano, and Donovan Wilson. From the U-16s are Aric Mata and Kellen Tamblyn.
For the young Timbers receiving an invite, the nearly-three-hour trip north presents a great opportunity to showcase their talent and challenge themselves along with top players from across the Pacific Northwest.
