Editor's Note: In honor of the Portland Timbers' 50th anniversary, the club is recognizing an All-Time XI collection of the best players from across all eras of the team's history as voted on by you, the fans. The XI is comprised of one goalkeeper, three defenders, four midfielders, and three forwards – a 3-4-3 formation.

Each day between now and the team's 50th anniversary celebration on July 19 – when the Timbers host Minnesota United FC (7:30pm PT, TICKETS, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV) – the club will unveil one player from the All-Time XI followed by a special recognition of the group on the evening of July 19th.

Midfielder Jack Jewsury – “Captain Jack – was a foundational member of the Portland Timbers’ MLS beginnings and a key leader throughout his six seasons with the club (2011-16).

A veteran of eight MLS seasons with Kansas City, Jewsbury arrived in Portland via a trade ahead of the Timbers’ inaugural MLS campaign in 2011. Given the captain’s armband as the club’s first MLS team captain, Jewsbury would go on to have a career year that season, being voted into the 2011 MLS All-Star Game – the club’s first All-Star selection in the MLS era – and finishing the season with career highs in goals (7) and assists (8).

A core member of the squad, Jewsbury helped the team to the best regular-season record in the Western Conference in 2013 before shifting to play defender to help the team win the 2015 MLS Cup, appearing in each of the team’s six playoff matches that year. He was part of the squad that earned spots in the 2014 and 2016 CONCACAF Champions League – the first intercontinental competitions for the club.

As essential as he was on the pitch, Jewsbury also provided veteran locker room leadership to what was then a young squad, helping mentor up-and-coming players such as Darlington Nagbe and Diego Chara. A consummate professional, Jewsbury was also often the face of the new team, providing numerous interviews to media and also helping in the community.

Through 157 appearances with the Timbers, Jewsbury amassed 14 goals and 17 assists. Five of his goals were game-winners, including a decisive golazo in a 1-0 win against Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Oct. 21, 2012 to clinch the Cascadia Cup that season and two during the club’s MLS Cup-winning season in 2015 – both crucial stoppage-time winners. The first was at Colorado on May 30, 2015 and the other against San Jose on July 5, 2015.

When Jewsbury retired at the close of the 2016 season, he had appeared in 352 MLS games across his career and was among the top-10 in minutes played (12,445) for the Timbers.
