LOS ANGELES – The Portland Timbers lost 2-0 to Los Angeles FC in the Round of 32 of the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Tuesday night at Banc of California Stadium.

Match Moments

22' - SAVE (POR) - Goalkeeper David Bingham got down to scoop away a glancing header from Cristian Arango before defender Justin Rasmussen cleared the ball away.

23' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland broke free on the counter following an LAFC corner kick, Diego Chara leading the charge. D. Chara was able to spring Marvin Loría and Santiago Moreno with a 2v1 opportunity. Loría crossed to Moreno who took a touch and fired a swerving shot on frame that LAFC goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau dove to parry away.

32' - GOAL (LAFC) - Los Angeles took a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute when a cross toward the near post found Arango to side-flick into the goal.

38' - SAVE (POR) - Bingham made another good save to push over the bar a point-blank shot from LAFC's Ilie Sanchez. On the ensuing corner, the defense cleared the ball but only as far as Los Angeles' Latif Blessing atop the arc who fired a shot that Bingham again quickly reacted to parry away.

54' - GOAL (LAFC) - LAFC doubled their lead to 2-0 as a low-driven corner kick got knocked down to Los Angeles defender Mamadou Fall to one-time into the back of the Portland net.

71' - CHANCE (POR) - Midfielder Sebastián Blanco sent Jaroslaw Niezgoda forward with a throughball. Niezgoda cut the ball back to Blanco in the area who hit a shot on target that Crépeau pushed over the bar.

72' - CHANCES (POR) - A Rasmussen cross into the mixer was narrowly punched out by Crépeau but it fell to midfielder David Ayala just outside the 18-yard box and he ripped a dipping shot that struck the crossbar.

82' - CHANCE (POR) - Midfielder Cristhian Paredes found space to hit a left-footed skipping shot to the near post that forced a diving stop from Crépeau.
